Activity Days

Today was a great day. I went to the chiropractor and got adjusted (my back and neck have been hurting a lot lately). I took London with me and got her adjusted too, a friend recommended I have her seen in hopes of helping with her nightly incontinence. Fingers crossed!!

Tonight Brooklyn and London got to do tie dye shirts for Activity Days. A few weeks ago they did a circus night and here are the pictures from the photo booth they had.

They combined with another group that night so there were twice as many girls. I'm so thankful for their Activity Day leaders that put so much time and effort into making it fun for them!

Just keep swimming...

This morning for a few hours I had some deep depression going on. Luckily I can usually convince myself that "it will pass". I was in a bit of despair so I prayed and then texted a close friend. She always knows the right thing to say. Can I please recommend that if someone texts you to say they are having a rough day - PLEASE answer them and answer quickly. Sometimes for people that are depressed it takes every ounce of energy they have just to reach out to one person. If that person is you, it's imperative you respond.

By noon or so I seem to have snapped out of it and the rest of the day went well. I did school with the kids and then read with them individually.  The girls are reading "Puppy Place" books and Liam and I just started The Hunger Games. Tomorrow we are starting Times Tales to help the kids with their times tables. I hope they love it.

They are all already working on their typing skills, the older kids want to start coding with Mr Wilson ASAP. Liam is especially excited to create his own game.

Tonight Brooklyn is at her last volleyball practice. She participated through the Rec Center, it is a 5-6 week course with 2 practices and 1 game each week. She has loved every minute of it. There may have to be more volleyball in her future.

Mondays.....

Today started off pretty well. I’m trying to stave off a bout of depression that is coming on by staying busy/motivated to get things done. I got about 50% of what I wanted to get done today. Could’ve been worse, could’ve been better.

As I was cleaning this morning I found this note on the back of the kids’ toilet:

Oh man, just what I needed...not. Luckily, by the end of the day, the only trick she had pulled was putting soap on Liam’s football.

It was a warm 67 ° day today. The kids played at the park and out in the neighborhood. The girls were busy smashing some type of seed pods and having a great time doing it. The picture I took isn’t great because I was upstairs in my bedroom and they were across the street.

Refreshing my blog page!

Hi friends! It’s been a years since I posted but I love writing and really want to get back to it. I will post about some of my favorite subjects - homeschooling, unschooling, cooking/baking, keto, family, organization, cleaning, and whatever else is going on in my life!

Lately I have been feeling a bit...lost. Between depression and anxiety I feel like I am barely keeping my head above water. Sounds ironic coming from a blog page titled “Choose Happiness First”. I am trying to choose happiness but some days are definitely harder than others.

We recently returned home from a trip to the Oregon Coast. It’s one of our favorite places in the whole world! We love the ocean, hiking among the beautiful greenery, and the fresh rain. We go at least once a year and it always seems to refresh my soul. I wonder if we should move there because we love it so much - the biggest thing that stops me is the homeschool laws. Not as much freedom there as we have in Idaho. We have thought about keeping residences in both Oregon and Idaho so we are able to still homeschool the way we have been.

I feel like this post may be a bit disjointed, and filled with what my high school English teacher referred to as “thought gaps”. But I am hoping that by sharing bits and pieces of our life, I will be motivated to do more, and also, do more to emulate my mantra of “Choose Happiness”. My goal is to post every day for the next month, I am not going to tell anyone until my 30 days are done - I’m guessing no one subscribes to my blog right now because I haven’t posted in so long. Cheers to the next 30 days!

It's really been 2 years since I've posted??

Hard to believe, I know!  Time flies when you have kids, it's crazy!  Not even sure where to start to get you all caught up.

All first we have Chris's job change.  This January he took a job at D & B Supply's corporate office working on their internal software.  It has been a big change for all of us since we have been used to having him home for the past decade.  As Liam told his Aunt Ann "My dad used to be a dad....now he is a real dad and goes to work everyday." Anyhow, Chris absolutely loves his new job - the company, the coworkers, the work itself - all make for a perfect fit.  He is still doing some of his own stuff on nights and weekends so he stays pretty busy.  Also, with D & B Supply we get a nice employee discount and because of that our yard has really improved, Chris has stocked up on DeWalt tools, and I got my first two pairs of cowgirl boots.

I'm still homeschooling the children and I love having them during the days. Brooklyn and Liam started Kung Fu last fall and have really enjoyed it.  London also participated for a few months but didn't really like it so I took her out.

I am no longer the secretary in the Relief Society but I now teach the 6-7 year olds in Primary.  I have Liam in my class along with 7 other boys and 1 girl.  They are quite the lively bunch of kids!

Last year my parents moved from Pocatello to Twin Falls, now that they are 2 hours closer we are able to visit more often and we love it.

I can't think of anything else major that has happened in the last two years (except I no longer have any kids in diapers).  I do have a desire to keep up on this blog but I can't guarantee it will happen - I will try though!  I have some different ideas/opinions and recipes I'd like to start sharing soon. In the meantime here are some cute pics of the kiddros.

Yesterday - Lexi saw Hello Kitty on her pillowcase and asked if she could have whiskers like Hello Kitty, then London wanted to be a kitty too, then Liam wanted to be a dog so he could chase the kitties and Brooklyn wanted to be a bear to chase the dog, haha!!
